This Just In

February 01, 2010

Here is a perfect example of the underhanded cheating and immoral and unethical strategies currently being used to short circuit alternative energy and environmental responsibility.

This just in from the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Bogus “Green” Business Group Fights CA Climate Plans

Dear Mr. Green,

Several independent studies show that California’s landmark legislation to reduce global warming, AB 32, will result in economic benefits for our state. Boosting our energy efficiency and adding renewable energy sources will create more than 100,000 new jobs and save consumers money by lowering energy costs.

The so-called “AB 32 Implementation Group” is an organization that has publicly claimed to be a constructive voice for California’s global warming plans. But investigative journalists recently exposed the players behind the group, which is actually headed by two associations that have a long history of fighting AB 32—the California Chamber of Commerce and California Manufacturers & Technology Association. In fact, among the group’s members are 22 of California’s biggest global warming polluters.

Fortunately, hundreds of forward-thinking California businesses that support the state’s clean energy plans have found their voice, too, with the California Business Alliance for a Green Economy. And you can help:

We need your help to spread the word. Together, we can prevent dangerous warming while we grow California’ economy.

Take Action Now

Sincerely,
Chris Carney
