NO NUKES!

President Obama hosted a groundbreaking summit with 47 world leaders for the purpose of securing loose nukes. I don't need to explain why this is a very good thing. At the same time, the President is talking about loan guarantees for new nuclear reactors to help encourage new nuclear power plants. This is very bad. 

For starters, a nuclear power plant, in today's dollars, can cost up to $10 billion and take up to 10 years to build. If it costs $10,000.00, (after tax incentives and rebates), to equip a home with a solar system, then for $10 billion, we can install systems on 1 million homes. And with that there is no risk of a potential Chernobyl or Three Mile Island type accident, there is no highly radioactive spent fuel and the consequences that come with it to worry about, and there is no uranium mining for the fuel.

Nuclear power is not worth the risk and cost in the face of alternatives like wind, solar, tidal, etcetera.
